With summer drawing to a close, Schlitterbahn Vacation Village eneded its regular summer daily operations, and will be open weekends through Sept. 20, 2009.

The sneak-peak period is now over and Schlitterbahn Vacation Village is officially open. Eleven signature attractions are now available for your enjoyment!

Schlitterbahn Vacation Village will open to the public for a sneak peak beginning Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 10 am. The sneak peak period will offer limited attraction availabllity at a discounted price, allowing guests the opportunity to play in the park as finishing touches to additional rides and attractions near completion. Once complete, the first phase of the new Waterpark will include 13 signature Schlitterbahn attractions encompassing more than 24 slides and chutes!
On this site, the rides that are open for the sneak peak period are labeled with (Sneak Peak Attraction! ) next to the ride name, on the Announced Attractions Page. Site visitors who visit the park are welcome to either log in or join the site to add their comments about the waterpark and the rides. ORIGINAL STORY:
Scheduled for a grand opening in the summer of 2009, the $750 million Schlitterbahn Vacation Village will be a year-round, trend-setting, retail entertainment destination, comprised of multiple shopping, dining, lodging and entertainment venues, connected by a Transportainment® River System.
In Schlitterbahn Vacation Village, manmade rivers will carry guests between a world-class Water Resort, a covered Riverwalk with shops and restaurants, lodging - including a full-service hotel and a unique Treehaus Resort with elevated pods, and other destination attractions.
Schlitterbahn Vacation Village is the first expansion outside of Texas for Schlitterbahn, widely recognized as the leader of waterpark innovation and as the first family of American waterparks.
The Schlitterbahn Vacation Village site is located on a 370-acre track approximately one mile east of Kansas Speedway and the popular Village West Retail and Entertainment District, in western Kansas City, Kansas. The location is bound by State Avenue on the south, Parallel Parkway on the north, Interstate 435 on the west and 94th Street on the east.
The groundbreaking ceremony for Schlitterbahn Vacation Village was held September 18, 2007, with construction beginning on the waterpark portion of the vacation village, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2009.
On March 10, 2009, Schlitterbahn announced a number of attractions that will open as a part of the first phase of the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village waterpark - some of which will include technology never before experienced in the midwest! The balance of the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village will continue its development plan for Phase One through summer of 2011, when it will have a fully integrated Water Resort, 750,000 sq ft of retail and over 1500 keys of lodging.
