Wyandotte County Museum

wyandottecountyhistoricalmuseum_325The Wyandotte County Museum houses artifacts, photographs and documents pertaining to the history of Wyandotte County Kansas.

The museum is divided into four sections: the Trowbridge Research Library, the Trowbridge/Barker Gallery, the East Gallery and the auditorium.

The Trowbride Research Library contains documents such as city and county census records, marriage licenses, county newspapers and historic photographs. Visitors often use the library to research information on past family members, important structures in Wyandotte County and other county facts.

The Trowbridge/Baker Gallery displays artifacts and information about the Kansas City Hopewell culture, the Kansa Indians and the three immigrant tribes: The Shawnee, Delaware and Wyandot.

The East Gallery features artifacts pertaining to the historic life and times of Wyandotte Countians, while the auditorium features changing exhibits throughout the year.

The Wyandotte County Museum is located approximately 5 minutes west of the Kansas Speedway in Wyandotte County Park, in Bonner Springs, Kansas, and admission is free.
